Discover the Passion Behind Siempre Running

Hi there, I'm Russel, the founder of Siempre Running. Throughout my life I’ve been active for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I was always the kid who loved to play sports, go to the gym, and keep in shape. But it wasn't until the pandemic struck that I truly fell in love with running itself. Cooped inside, I read book after book about people's journeys, and the various challenges they would undertake, and decided that as soon as lockdown was lifted, that's what I wanted to do too… Run.

On my first run back in August 2020 after seeing my friends and their 5k PB times I tried to put my own marker on the wall. I managed no more than 3.5km and limped home after stop/starting my watch on at least three occasions during that effort. Two days later (after my calves had recovered) I set out again for another attempt at the distance. Before long I was running 5km three times per week, which progressed consistently. One year later I completed the Great Manchester Half Marathon in 1:30 and the Manchester Marathon in 3:37. But I wanted more.

I’d thrown myself in fully by this point. My morning routine before work would be stretch and foam roll whilst watching running content on YouTube, followed by a run. Evenings would be Strava stalking and reading running biographies, then stretching whilst watching TV after tea (dinner to Southerners). I was always searching for those small gains and tweaks that could help take me to the next level.

I researched every aspect including nutrition, strength training, equipment, running form and economy, and psychology amongst others.

Six months on, in May 2022, I lowered my half marathon PB to 1:19, and followed that up in October with my first sub 3. Again, I was proud of those achievements but I saw them as markers along the way of my continuing journey. I’ve since ran 6 more marathons all under 3 hours and continue to push myself to achieve more.

Running has been my solace and my escape, and I knew that I wanted to share this passion with others. And that's why I started Siempre Running - to help others discover the joys and benefits of running, and to support them on their own running journeys, no matter what their goals may be.

To this end I completed the UK Athletics Coach in Running Fitness qualification and followed it up with the Event Group Endurance course to gain as much specialised knowledge as possible. I also completed a Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy course in order to provide a wide range of runner-focused services.
